Fintan Magee has Burrito Bar Style down to a fine art
The interiors of Queensland’s Burrito Bar stores are fast becoming a travelling portfolio for acclaimed street artist Fintan Magee, with another original work now complete at the brands shiny new Broadbeach store.
Magee was picked up by Director of the Burrito Bar franchise Luke McGrath earlier this year as the brands interiors artist – hired to inject the vibrancy and edginess of Mexican inspired street art into the Burrito Bar stores.
Drawing inspiration from San Francisco’s street mural art scene, Magee said his designs for the venue needed to capture the beauty and edginess of the colour-popping Mexican streets.
“It was important to Luke to remain genuine to the Mexican culture. He wanted his stores to have an edgy atmosphere with the artwork to be fun and loud,” he said.
With the theming focusing on Mexico’s annual Day of the Dead celebration, Magee chose designs that captured the intricate details and amazing colouring of the sometimes fear-evoking images.
“The images can be a little confrontational, which is the biggest balancing act for me as an artist. By focusing on the Day of the Dead we captured the beauty of images that are usually seen as deathly and scary.
“The artwork within the Burrito Bar stores definitely helps to make them stand out,” he said.
After one successful fit out in Rosalie, Magee’s Broadbeach mural marks his second completed work for the Burrito Bar franchise, with the brands aggressive growth strategy promising more Magee originals in coming months.
Street art lovers wanting to view Magee’s Mexican inspired originals can do at The Burrito Bar Rosalie and The Burrito Bar Broadbeach and can visit http://www.theburritobar.com.au/tbb-locations/ for store locations.
